Yeehaa, it's rodeo time!

Last week was the Medicine Hat Spring Rodeo, so we went along to see what it was all about. There was bucking bronco riding, steer roping and bull riding - all of which looked quite painful (for the riders and the animals!). Horses and cattle are a way of life here, and this is the start of the competitive rodeo season which builds up to the Calgary Stampede in the summer.

We have just spent a delightful long weekend in Vancouver, BC. It was a real treat to spend a few days away from the prairie, in a city where people drive normal sized cars instead of monster trucks, and where waiters dont look strangely at you when you ask for an espresso!



we spent 2 delightful days walking along the coast, taking in the city views with the breathtaking mountains as a backdrop. We also took the oppportunity to eat lots of seafood, and found a couple of good microbreweries serving decent ale, so we will certainly be back soon!!
